Welcome to the Stanislaus Audubon Big Year (BY) 2006 Home Page. During this year BY, participants will cover both Merced and Stanislaus Counties to see as many different species as they can. To be "countable" each species must be physically within one of the two counties, be on the CBRC official list (http://www.wfo-cbrc.org/cbrc/ca_list.html) and be observed according to the American Birding Association (ABA) Recording Rules (http://americanbirding.org/bigday/rules.pdf).

As a twist this year, in addition to tracking the total species seen, we are assigning a point value to each species based upon it's difficulty of being observed in the proper habitat and appropriate time of the year. For example, a House Finch is worth one point, a Blue-winged Teal is worth 3 points and a Ruff is worth 6.
