Other fieldtrips for January to June (leaders TBA):
Saturday, May 10: Yosemite National Park Meet behind the Stanislaus
County Library, 15TH & H Sts., at 7:00 A.M. Yosemite is beautiful at any
time of the year, but especially in the spring. There are many birds
that nest here and can be easily seen when you can get away from the
herds of humans that visit this park.
Sunday, June 8: Corps of Engineers Parks along Stanislaus River Meet
behind the Stanislaus County Library, 15TH & H Sts., at 7:00 A.M. U.S.
Army Corps of Engineers has created a few parks along the Stanislaus
River. These parks can be full of birds. Birds that be found are
Turkeys, Turkey Vultures, warblers, flycatchers, hawks, etc.
Saturday, July 12: Marin Headlands Meet behind the Stanislaus County
Library, 15TH & H Sts., at 6:00 A.M. This portion of the Golden Gate
National Seashore has several has several trails that wind through the
brushy habitat of this area. These trails are excellent for birding.
Birds likely to be seen include Wrentits, Towhees, Sparrows, etc. Also
present is a lagoon area and beach which has waterfowl and other water
birds, and usually a large flock of gulls to hone your identification
skills. Of course there is an area that gives you the best view of the
Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco that you will ever see, if the fog
is willing. There will be some walking in areas that are a little steep.
Sunday, August 24: To Be Announced Meet behind the Stanislaus County
Library, 15TH & H Sts., at 7:00 A.M. It will probably be somewhere along
the coast or up in the mountains. Suggestions are welcome.
