Description: This Refuge complex includes the Mapes Ranch, Faith Ranch and lands belonging to the San Joaquin River National Wildlife Refuge.

Directions: Take Hwy 132 west from Modesto or east from I5 to the San Joaquin River. Most of this area is currently not accessible to the public. However, there is a viewing platform at the end of Beckwith Rd which gives great views of cranes and geese in winter.

Birding Information: Eastern Phoebe, Eurasian Wigeon, Rusty Blackbird, Swamp Sparrow, and Hooded Merganser have been recorded here. All of these rarities were found in areas not generally accessible to the public.
