WESTERN BLUEBIRD NESTING INFORMATION (From birdsoftheworld.org)
Nests - Pair formation may occur as early as mid-Feb in parts of California. Mates search together for nest sites and the search may be quite lengthy and time consuming, possibly due to paucity of suitable nesting cavities. Nest building begins in mid-March in California. Generally uses secondary-cavities or nest boxes.
Eggs - Subelliptical to short subelliptical, pale blue, occasionally white, unmarked. Clutch size typically 5 eggs (range 2–6).
Incubation - Female only incubation typically for 12 to 15 days.
Fledging - Young birds are altricial and leave nest from 19 to 23 days.
